Marymount Welcomes Author Alicia Klepeis
This week, our Elementary School had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Alicia Klepeis, a renowned U.S. author specializing in children's nonfiction books, some of which are featured in our library. Her visit provided an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with a professional writer and explore the wonders of nonfiction storytelling.
Throughout the day, Ms. Klepeis led interactive sessions tailored to different grade levels:
Grades 1–3: Amazing Animals – A captivating assembly introducing students to the fascinating world of wildlife.
Grade 4: Making Nonfiction Fun with Daily Life Around the Globe – A presentation exploring daily life in various cultures, touching on themes like food, schools, and traditions from around the world.
Grade 5: Think Like a Nonfiction Author – Workshops focused on developing nonfiction writing skills, using the Arctic as a lens to compare human and environmental experiences.
The students were inspired by Ms. Klepeis’ enthusiasm and practical insights into research and writing, leaving them eager to explore their creativity and curiosity.
Thank you, Ms. Klepeis, for bringing your expertise and passion to Marymount. This memorable day reminded us of the power of storytelling to expand young minds!
