In April the College Office held a mini-fair for Grade 10 and Grade 11 students in the auditorium. Nine UK university representatives took the microphone for a minute each to introduce themselves and their institutions before distributing themselves at individual tables to answer students’ questions. The representatives present were very complimentary about the students with whom they met, noting, in particular, significant interest in law school among this cohort. My colleagues told me that our students asked interesting questions and listened well. This group of universities is carefully chosen to represent a broad group of schools from different parts of the UK and with a range of selectivity. It is intended that there should be at least one university in the group that could appeal to everyone.
Before the fair, I had the opportunity to host my colleagues at lunch. After the meal, my friend from Cardiff University came up to me and said, “You know, I have eaten in hundreds of high school cafeterias in the last few years, and this is by far the best one!” It is nice to know that Marymount is well respected for its students and for the warm hospitality we provide our guests.
